Support for daily living activities as an assisted living service on a weekly or daily basis
Support for daily living activities as an assisted living service
This service is meant for adults with a severe or profound intellectual disability who have an additional disability and who are not capable of taking care of themselves. The service is suited to those who need constant care and the help of a permanent Personal Assistant for everyday living in addition to regular support for daily activities.
The service is available on working days for up to 21 days per month. Where necessary, overnight stays are also possible, meaning that the client can come in for the service on the Monday morning and go home on the Friday evening. We are very flexible in providing the service, which can also be used only once or twice a week.
We offer various activities for the clients using the service and plan the day's activities according to the their abilities.
In Karula, hands-on activities are provided (kinetic sand, colouring-in, cutting out, puzzles, etc.); swings and sports equipment are located around the house. In the large auditorium we play musical games, hold discos and train the whole body with everybody's favourite, bungee workouts. We fill our afternoons watching cartoons and we celebrate folk calendar events. To rest and recover from all this excitement, we have a ‘sensory space’ where light, music, scents and soft blankets help the client relax.
At the Merimetsa centre in Tallinn we place special emphasis on individual guidance. Along with a supervisor, the client can play games and go outside. Indoors, there is plenty of room for moving around and the client can listen to music and practise cooking according to their own abilities.
