Tapa Home
Our home is located on the outskirts of Tapa, next to a pathway which is popular among the town's residents.
Our family village consists of six houses, each of which houses ten lovely residents. Each resident has their own room full of things they hold dear. The open-plan kitchen and living room is perfect for spending time together, cooking delicious food, eating meals together, chatting to one another and watching interesting shows on TV.
60 people reside with us. The residents are assisted and supported by 26 Personal Assistants and three members of catering staff. Tapa Home is a calm and cosy home. In one of the family homes lives Kusti the cat who is taken care of by the residents and who in return will purr contently and crawl on to your lap, sometimes he might even sneak into your bed.
We spend our days doing ordinary housework. Every day, each resident carefully cleans their room, looks after their personal hygiene and makes sure their clothes are clean. The more nimble residents perform these tasks on their own and the Personal Assistant is there to help those who might have forgotten about some tasks.
Three of our residents go to work at the job centre which is located in the city centre – they create beautiful rag rugs and bracelets and do embroidery and felting.
All the important occasions are celebrated in the family village – the residents and Personal Assistants gather in the same building to dance, enjoy food and see performers. In the summer, the residents go to a camp by the seaside for a few days.
Once a week, residents have the opportunity to go swimming in the Kadrina swimming pool. During the warmer seasons, those with green thumbs work on the small allotment and in the greenhouse.
Our home is suitable for people who have a hard time handling everyday activities independently but would like to do as much as possible on their own.
