Valkla Home

Valkla Home is located next to the historical Valkla Manor, situated in a beautiful natural environment right by the seaside. Our home houses people who have been sent here by court order and require enhanced 24-hour supervision.

There are currently 85 people living in our home. They are supported by 59 employees: 52 Personal Assistants, 3 expert Personal Assistants, an educationalist, a psychologist, a security agent and a security guard.

The residents of our home are divided into seven families, most of which have ten members. Two of the families prepare their own breakfasts, the others get their food from the home’s large kitchen.

All families use the large auditorium, library, music class, therapy room and 'sensory space'. Our home is surrounded by a large garden in which you can play various sports – there are ball courts for playing football, basketball and volleyball, trampolines, outdoor workout equipment and swings. We also do a lot of gardening – in our two greenhouses we grow tomatoes, cucumbers and bell peppers. Our residents built raised garden beds themselves.

On-site, we have a workshop for assembling roofing materials – this way, all of our residents have the opportunity to work during weekdays. They can also do woodwork in the carpentry workshop under the guidance of an experienced woodworker.

Those who prefer indoor activities are welcome to use the learning kitchen or the handicraft classroom. There are many other active and educative activities available, such as daily morning exercise, music and dance evenings, bingo, karaoke, Bible study, table tennis or floorball. We also have a board game club and a literary club.

We traditionally celebrate Valentine's Day, St John's Day, Christmas and the New Year together. We also have our own traditional end of summer party.
