24 hour special care service for people with autism spectrum disorder

Kodud

The service is intended for adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who display repetitive extreme disruptive behaviour and need constant supervision and assistance caring for themselves and are unable to manage daily tasks or need significant aid and guidance to do so and who are not eligible for other social services and who do not use other special care services.

The aim of the service is to preserve and develop the independence of the person and to ensure a safe living environment on the premises of the service provider by applying modern behaviour guidance methods to reduce extreme disruptive behaviour.

What does the service consist of?

The service is provided on the premises of the service provider for maximum of six people at a time by at least three appropriately prepared employees. The employees must be skilled in the use of modern behaviour guidance methods to reduce the frequency and intensity of extreme disruptive behaviour. We provide constant supervision to observe changes in their behaviour (e.g. reactions to environmental stimuli, behaviours caused by sensory issues) and provide guidance and adapt the environment accordingly, if possible.

  • We provide guidance in all daily activities using clear visualised information and activity instructions.
  • We provide guidance and assistance when dressing, eating and performing care actions.
  • We provide constant supervision.
  • We supervise recreational activities, including finding suitable activities that fit the person’s needs.
  • We supervise the development of work skills by involving people in activities that fit their needs.
  • We provide support for developing and maintaining social relationships.
  • We provide supervision for following the treatment plans established by healthcare service providers.
  • We provide support for using healthcare, social and other public services.
